The VL blog

SEO, AEO and GEO: what should a small business do?

The labels overlap in the practical questions an owner needs answered: can people find, understand and choose the business?

Start with the customer question

Explain who the service is for, what it covers and the next step. Use concrete examples and supporting evidence. Accurate business facts and readable pages help a person assess the offer regardless of which optimisation label a provider uses.

Keep search surfaces distinct

A Google result, an AI Overview and another assistant's response are different products and measurements. A citation in one sample does not establish visibility everywhere. Google says existing SEO foundations remain relevant to its AI search features; that is not a universal promise about every model.

Choose a verifiable task

Improve a confusing service page, repair an important link or resolve conflicting contact details. Record the affected URL and the evidence you will review. A specific deliverable is easier to assess than a large package of vaguely described AI signals.
